All this year in school(being my freshman year at an all-girls private school…I am new) I had been struggling with the workload and having difficulties with the teachers, but through it all, I began to pray and read the bible a little every day and as time has gone I have gotten good grades in classes I least expected them in.
I am so blessed that God has placed so many opportunities in front of me this year. One that I’m most excited about is my acceptance into Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. I prayed and prayed about it and God answered my prayers. The amazing thing is that there were 310 available slots and nearly 900 applicants, and God chose me. This is a perfect example of how powerful prayer is and how God can work wonders in your life!
The Winning Women’s Youth Conference 2009 @ Celebration Church on 4/3-4/4/09 was very inspiring to me. Here are some of the Christian gifts I recieved:
-I loved how everyone was refered to as sister and brother, it made me feel welcome and in touch with the spirit.
-The workshops reinforced my Christian principles especially the one that focused on dealing with peer pressure by using your faith and Christian beliefs.
-I encourge others in my age group to seek opportunities like this conference to strenghten their faith, Christian beliefs, and remind yourself of just who and whose we are.
- I was amazed at how extravagantly everything was decorated and arranged for us. I really felt special. We even got beautiful little gift tote bags! Thank you, Celebration Church!
I also attended the Winning Women’s Youth Conference 2009 at Celebration Church and I believe that the experience was very fulfilling. This being my first time, I was extremely shy. However, everyone was very welcoming and in the end, I wasn’t afraid to speak up. In the workshops, and by listening to the speakers, I learned how to laugh through everything, that it was okay to laugh in both good times and bad times, and that laughing not only builds your spirit, but can also lead you to a closer walk with God. I believe that more young girls from St. John should have a chance to take part in this conference, because it can change the way you see your relationship with Christ, and even strengthen it!
I just wanted to leave an announcement:
Mark your calendars for May 2, 2009
-I will be participating in one of my school’s many traditions for the first time. At 2PM, my school will present their 105th Gym Drill as part of the Alumnae weekend.
Gym Drill is quite similar to a dance recital, and includes all students from 6-12th grade. Each grade performs an ethnic dance by class, and the seniors also choreograph an extra dance for themselves.
My class is performing the Askham Richard sword dance. In my group, I am the sword master, which means I lead my group in the dance and hold the star up in the middle of the circle.
I am telling you all of this because I would like to invite you to come see me. I feel that my church family should take part in my “support system” aka “fan box”.
If any of you are interested, you can see me for more information.
And please, if any of you have any events, please let me know so that I can try to support you in any way I can.
God Bless!!
I also attended the Winning Womens’ Youth Conference 2009 at Celebration Church. It was a lot of fun meeting new people and worshipping God through various activites and workshops, such as learning to give ourselves pedicures or learning new make-up tips. It was refreshing to be in a fun loving Christian environment compared to that of the daily world. The theme of the conference was Laugh Out Loud, and therefore we learned that laughing is a cure-all of almost everything: it literally is good for your health, but it also brings you closer to God. I thoroughly enjoyed this conference, and believe that every young woman should attend. Thank you, Celebration Church!
Hey guys just a reminder:
My school’s Gym Drill is THIS SATURDAY!!!
The address is 109 W. Melrose Avenue Baltimore, MD 21210 if you want to come see me dance!!!
God bless!!
Kierra,
So sorry that I will not be able to attend your GYM Drill this Saturady. Raquel and I will be attending a women’s conference in PA this weekend. We will be thinking about you. I’m sure your performance will be awesome! Smile pretty! That is, if you’re allowed to smile in a Gym Drill (lol). If you take pictures you can upload them here. Please share, if you can.

Wow… high tech blogging at SJBC! Thought I’d jump in and say how very proud I am of all of our “future stars” of tomorrow; IT BEGINS TODAY!!
God bless CYLC!
Love the site! Have a blessed school year everybody. PS I’m writing this from TJ’S Wii. This is so cool.
This summer has truly been a blessed one. I still have a few weeks and am enjoying what’s left. I have had a lot to be thankful to God for, especially as I am trying work my way into the entertainment industry with acting and dance this school year. One exciting thing that I just found out was that I was chosen to be in The Company(the national competition team) of my new dance place, Savage Dance Company. I am very excited about this and thank God for Everything He has blessed me with and helped me through this summer

So glad to see a few new comments on our blog. Whenever you think about it , encourage your friends to log in their comments. Rachel, it’s so exciting to hear about your dance and acting ambitions. If you have a headshot and resume you might consider registering with Central Casting in Washington for “extra” work on TV shows and movies that come to town. Also, have you heard of Linda Townsend? Not sure if she’s still in business, but she does casting for young actors. I’ve lost touch with these contacts since I’ve been away from the industry. Check the web to see if they have sites. Remember to keep God at the center of your life. The enterainment industry is full of temptations. Be sure you are always wearing your armor of God! You much more likely to succeed if you do.
Hey guys… I don’t know about you but I am sooooo excited about our first service in the new church tomorrow. Last Sunday was actually quite bittersweet, seeing that I had spent most of my life at that location, but the fact that I am a youth in SJBC witnessing this is so great. When my mom was my age, her home church went through the same process, so I feel blessed to experience this also.
I also can’t wait for the kick-off!!
